How To Buy A Diamond By onelove Buying a diamond can be one of the most important purchases you ever make. A good understanding of diamonds is necessary before you begin shopping. Here are some things to consider when out shopping
Determine what you want or can afford to spend. The first thing to consider is your price range. Decide how much you can spend,A low budget does not mean low quality.
When you are shopping, here are some things you should consider. The four C' s of diamonds: Color, Cut, Clarity, and carrat weight.
Color-Colorless diamonds are the most desirable since they allow the most refraction of light (sparkle). Off white diamonds absorb light, inhibiting brilliance.
Cut- There are many different cuts of diamonds. Round, Princess (square), Emerald (rectangular), Pear, Marquis (diamond shaped), Oval, and heart.
If you want to get more specific, there are also Asscher cuts, and cushion cuts that show off the sparkle a little more. Do a bit of research to see which cut you like the best. This is more personal preference.
Clarity-Most diamonds contain some inner flaws, or inclusions, that occur during the formation process. The visibility, number and size of these inclusions determine what is called the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance, and thus are more highly prized, and priced.
Carrat Weight- Diamonds range in a wide variety of sizes. From as small as melee, to many carrats. Keep in mind that the larger the stone, the more chances of it being visibly included.
